    Sandy Spring Museum Introduces Development Director, John Quinn

    (Sandy Spring, MD) Sandy Spring Museum announces the hiring of John Quinn as its new Development Director. Prior to being tapped as the Director of Development, John Quinn enjoyed a long career in media sales, community affairs, and related production promotion and events. For 19 years, John spearheaded public affairs marketing for ABC affiliate WJLA-TV.  There he developed and implemented multi-channel communications strategies across News Channel 8 and POLITICO. The campaigns generated earned media and grassroots support for embassies within Washington’s diplomatic community as well as non-profit organizations. As a result, his body of work was chosen by PROMAX International and Television Week Magazine garnering one of the industry’s first Marketing Mavericks for his collaboration with the German Information Center’s “Friends Always” campaign.

    Between 2015 and 2019, Quinn launched Quinntessential Media, a full-service advertising, marketing, and public relations boutique. The agency received its first Telly award for the German Embassy’s “Skills Initiative” which featured the CEOs of BMW and Lufthansa and is an on-going model for corporate dual education-work programs in the United States. Prior to this, John received numerous accolades for both radio and television including Top Special Program Billboard Magazine; two additional PROMAX Gold Awards for Most Innovative Radio Promotion; Outstanding Consumer Television Promotion; two Capital Region Emmy nominations for On Your Side for Education; six additional Telly Awards; and a Public Relations Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, St. Louis.

    John has served on the Board of Directors for Living Independently for Everyone (L.I.F.E., Inc.) and as a Fellow for the Society for New Communications Research. He and his wife Anita have two sons and are proud new grandparents!  In his spare time, he enjoys music and is a long-time history buff.

    Sandy Spring Museum supports community-driven cultural arts and educational programs.  We gather community to build a sense of place and belonging.  Sandy Spring Museum is located at 17901 Bentley Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860. Hours: Thursday, 10 am - 8 pm, Friday 10 am - 5 pm, Sunday 11 am - 4 pm, and the first Saturday of each month 10 am - 5 pm.
